Nice review, I would really like to see at least one reaction from any drumming channel to Terry Bozzio with Frank Zappa doing Punkys Whips. It's over 40 years old and one of the be4st live performances ever. It's dirty rock, funky, bombastic, tongue in cheek showmanship, and peak level energy while singing and totally pummeling the kit.

The Neil Peart Traditional GONG at the end of the solo is classic. I remember his old days from the All The World's a Stage Tour he actually had a huge Gong behind him, as well as bell tree and other things. But it's always cool that even though he doesn't have the gong anymore he still does the gong at the end of the solo. Hope you listen to the ALL THE WORLD'S A STAGE drum solo. See ya

The classification of Tool as metal surprises me a bit. Of course it's not like these groupings are meticulous and scientific. It's just that I personally definitely would not see Tool as metal. I would even say that Metallica has some albums that definitely are not metal albums. Again a very fuzzy and subjective line. Lol But I appreciate what musician appreciating another musician. The classification thing is just a very insignificant topic here but there's no doubt the musicians in that band are very good at what they do. I watched the video of a drummer trying to play a tool song without having ever heard it and without hearing the drum track and.... They had a lot of trouble. Lol I think part of the trick with Tool that people don't necessarily recognize is that the parts do not necessarily go together. It's a lot like a solar system. They can all be doing their own thing in a consistent rhythmic way but they only line up on occasion. To that point you can't just listen to the guitar riff and know what you should do with the drums because they don't really go together all the time. But much respect to the musicians that can do that kind of thing and keep up with it and anybody that tries to be a cover band for that kind of thing. Lol. That does take some skill for sure!
